Anti-ragging
Introduction
Ragging is strictly prohibited in R.M. Memorial Women Teachers’ Training College. The institution adopts a zerotolerance policy towards any form of ragging. These rules are formulated as per the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009.
2. Definition of Ragging
- As per UGC guidelines, ragging includes any act by which a student is subjected to physical or mental harassment, abuse, humiliation, or intimidation.
3. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are considered ragging and are banned:
- Forcing a student to perform acts against their will
- Teasing, mocking, or insulting juniors
- Forcing students to do academic or personal chores
- Creating fear through threats or physical harm
- Using WhatsApp, Instagram, or other social media to insult, threaten, or defame others
4. Punishable Offences
If any student is found guilty of ragging, the following punishments may be imposed:
- Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges
- Debarring from examinations
- Cancellation of admission
- Rustication from the institution
5. Preventive Measures
- Anti-Ragging Committee is formed as per norms
- CCTV surveillance is active in the college premises
6. Reporting Mechanism
- Students can report incidents of ragging to the Principal, Anti-Ragging Committee, or any faculty member
- A complaint box is placed in the college
